Optical Fiber Safety Training

The Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) market is expected to grow robustly as the existing network of copper cables is being over hauled using advanced OFC technology. This has created significant demand for OFC installation and a large work force will be required to meet this expansion. Besides the usual safety issues for construction ie, road side barricading, isolation of other utilities etc generally covered under OSHA rules, fiber optics adds concerns for eye safety, chemicals, sparks from fusion splicing, disposal of fiber shards and more. Fiber Optic Safety Training therefore assumes great urgency and importance. Force Tech, a leader in Fiber Optic safety, has developed its ‘Fiber Vendor Contractual Employees Safety Training (FVCE)’ program, being delivered on site, pan India, by experienced trainers certified by an affiliate of Fiber Optic Association, Inc, USA. FVCE Safety Training is a module focused on basic knowledge of working safely during fiber optic cable installation & maintenance. It covers usage of basic PPE while working on a Fiber Optic cable on ground & during aerial cable installation amongst other things. The program also deals with the behavioral part of safety ie human error, widely recognized as the major cause of accidents. The program effectively trains Splicers, Technicians, Workers, Engineers, Supervisors & anyone directly or indirectly linked with Fiber Optic Cable laying & maintenance work, about working safely by eliminating or reducing various risks they might face during their work at Optical Fiber Work Sites The process of laying OFC involves hazards associated with aerial laying, trenching, splicing, street work, adverse weather and terrain, and many others.

This program is targeted for the Engineers / Technicians deployed by TATA Communications & also by its Contractors or Vendors.
